Furthermore, over on this Dark Reflections version of Exiern, barbarian Typhan-Knee was struck by his own sword after a failed rescue attempt as seen here and his life was never the same again! But as it turned out, it wasn’t just altered the one way! See how it all began on that side here and then see just one of the ways it diverged from these life changing events regularly over on Chaos and another way over on Zen! A lot has happened since last year including stumbling across a colour version of last year’s new year’s day image in the Exiern archives. The black and white one I’d known about for a while but this was a much more recent and very welcome discovery I’ve saved for New Year’s Day 2022!

I’ve since spoken to Drowemos who did confirm that this is indeed Faden and Vandal after an unspecified incident. It wasn’t anything he’d written but something put together by Dazzler, the artist at the time just for fun I believe!

So it wasn’t a planned story plot point but in the tradition of this site being a place to preview potential future developments … we have to look at working this into the plot somewhere at some point, don’t we?

So we hope you enjoy this image, the colour version of which may not have been seen publicly for up to a decade and a half. We at Exiern all hope everyone has a good new year and watch this space!

Another piece of work that we’re very privileged to have from Brett Neufeld of the webcomic Marble Gate Dungeon. It continues our future glimpses into the Dark Reflections: Chaos universe. Last we saw there, Tiffany and Peonie appeared to have had a falling out of sorts. Have things taken a turn for the better?

Unfortunately this is where Exiern v1.0 ended!

At this point, Drowemos arranged for Studio Boom (now Studio Katsumi and our current Exiern artist again at the time of writing this) to take over doing the art.

I think this page dated the 2nd of November 2006 called “Still no key” was the first page Studio Boom made for Exiern as part of the narrative, with the pages earlier to this one being done later and back dated  which I think seems apparent from the nature of the art.

I hope you all enjoyed this trip down memory lane, I’ve been racing to get these pages uploaded as my computer increasingly failed and fortunately all of them are now all up!

It was nice to see how the story originally unfolded and who knows how much of this version of the story might come back to some part of (one of) the Exiern universes one day? Time will tell.

… and we’re black and white again for the last time.

I could get technical here about how periods aren’t an absolute guarantee that you’re not pregnant but I won’t.

Also, as even Typh knows, if certain other things haven’t happened, it’s a fairly safe bet that you can’t be pregnant.

This first mention of Typh’s time of the month happened in a different context in the current version in the archives.
